An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), commonly referred to as a drone, can either be a fixed-wing or multirotor system capable of pilot remote-controlled or autonomous flight. Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) comprises the vehicle, ground control stations and other elements. Multirotor vehicles can be four (quad), six (hexa) or eight (octa) winged depending on the activity being carried out and it’s requirements. Flight stabilization, terrain following, speed control and obstacle avoidance are some of its key features. With scope of extensive use in the agriculture sector, AgroTech Solutions is deploying this technology to conduct efficient spraying of required components across farms and execute crop health monitoring.
A multispectral camera is capable of measuring reflected energy with several specific bands of the electromagnetic spectrum. Plants vitality is studied by collecting data i.e. the amount of light they absorb and reflect. Vegetative index - NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) is available as a product of the data collection and analysis, orthomosaic maps are hence constructed by the software allowing us to monitor crop health meticulously. Results therefore ensure that farmers can do what’s best for their fields.
Soil nutrient requirement is an aspect that is lacking tremendously in the Indian agriculture sector. Season-over-season generic solutions are provided due to the lack of research and site-specific study. Technology developed with sensors at its core is enabling farmers to know better about soil condition/content (such as nitrogen, zinc, phosphorus, water content, pH level) and optimize nutrient input.
